PoE is an ARPG in the purest tradition of Diablo 2 that GGG gladly accepts as the reference and the main source of inspiration.
But GGG was not content to offer us a simple reiteration, there is in PoE as traditional as novelty.
The traditional PoE side retains a complex and tailor-made development: at each level one has to choose a path on a giant skill tree in which one can steer one’s character towards the CaC, remote combat, magic, or even all three. Stats, permanent bonuses to the damage of elements etc… With end of the tree powers really special.
The magical skills come from gems that have embedded in reliquaries that themselves can be linked to other gems to strengthen the effective power of these skills or even transmute them completely.
There is no universal monetary value in PoE, besides the bartering of items between players there are Path of Exile orbs that serve as currency. These orbs have all kinds of interresting properties like turning a normal object into a magic item, relaunching the stats of a rare item, or even invalidating a choice in the skill tree. The potions of life and mana are magical items apart whole who recharge themselves by killing enemies.
Add to this: a Hardcore mode, temporary leagues, ladders and “races” of all kinds and a “cutthroat” mode, in short, you understand it PoE is primarily intended for veterans ARPGs by its complexity and wealth but if you like intricate games, the dark and bloody fantasy heroic and you love to pamper your characters in the smallest detail then you will undoubtedly find a small place in the world without mercy of Wraeclast.
The grip is not easy and the character does not start in life as a hero with a great destiny, it takes time to be powerful on this world but the progress is constant and the booty is at the rendezvous .
PoE is free and can only be played online. GGG’s Free to Play policy, guarantee that there will be nothing purchasable that could give benefits in games, only cosmetics, inventory and familliers reporting nothing, yet a good reason to go there a lap!
